Rising Up
The album Rising Up focuses on spiritual matters, the necessity to search for and do Good – in a divine sense – with the aim of changing oneself and consequentially changing the world. Rising Up calls upon everyone to let go of prejudices, mainstream ideas, fears, pride and mediocrity in order to become a man or woman of Good.

The album was written and composed in Ethiopia during one of Cyril de Montenach’s journeys in Africa. In country, he worked with two composers, Tewolde Girmay and Jah Man, as well as with a band from Addis Ababa: The Ge’ez.

Cyril and the Ge'ez

Cyril de Montenach is a theater producer and director, songwriter, journalist and radio producer. He is a Swiss and French national who has been working in different countries, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Haïti among others. Cyril currently lives in New York where he works on the lyrics of a new album and a musical. Through his texts, Cyril focuses on the urgent but complex need to search for the Good.

The Geez is a group of young musicians who perform mostly in Addis Ababa. Graduates from jazz schools, The Ge’ez’ music style is heavily influenced by Ethio Pop and Reggae.

The lyrics were inspired by Michel Potay's blog:
